Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
